

Description
Jesus lies dead upon the burial shroud after being taken down from the Cross. The Theotokos embraces Him by the head and mourns her Son; St. John the Beloved is bent over by Christ's side in grief; St. Joseph of Arimathea is seen at Christ's feet; the myrrh-bearing women are also seen mourning behind the Virgin Mary. There is also a basket containing the myrrh, aloes and spices used to anoint Christ's body prior to burial.
