Description

St. Anastasia the Roman (c. AD 230–250) lost her parents when she was three years old and was raised in a women’s monastery by the abbess Sophia. She embraced the ascetic life from childhood and became known for her devotion, obedience and spiritual discipline. During the persecution under Emperor Decius, officials arrested her and attempted through promises and threats to make her abandon Christ.

St. Anastasia rejected every offer of comfort, marriage or honour that required her to deny the Lord. She endured grievous torture and was eventually beheaded, receiving the crown of martyrdom while still a young woman.
